Checking back in for the holidays & a recipe...of course!
You know when you think life is about to slow down, because it’s been completely wild for the last 3 years? So, God is about to give you a little break, right?
Nope.
Instead, Heavenly Father blesses you with another pregnancy…(another girl!), you have a budding toddler with impressive tantrums, and you have some family events that erupt and shift everything the other direction than all of your plans.
In the whirlwind of it all, Matthew and I decided to drop my hours at the hospital as a nurse from full time to per diem and although it makes me nervous, it sure has allowed me to be there for my kids more.
This means two things:
1. I’ve been sleeping for the first time in years. Which means I’ve had mental stamina to stand up against the storms in life and…
Are you wondering why this matters to you? Well let me tell you!
2. I’ve been able to find ways to improve everyone’s diet in an effort to help our mental health. We have loved kiddos who suffer from some pretty taxing mental health struggles and as we clean up our eating, it seems more manageable.
Matthew recently became a Licensed Associate Counselor and actively helps his clients weekly to navigate through life’s struggles and mental health challenges that come with it. His whole foundation for guiding them through strategies is to start with the basics: sleep, diet, exercise. We’ve really tried to focus on those things in our house too so that we can mirror what he teaches.
As the holidays approach, it will be important to share with each other on this nourishing food space our successes, our struggles, and questions we might have. I’m particularly passionate about and fond of talking about how to ensure success in food prepping, modifying recipes to reduce inflammation, and the likes – but I’m definitely not an expert. I need your input as to what the important and relevant topics are!
